Okay, well, this sucks, guess I gotta wait it out.

It does this until it DOESN'T crash, but usually only like a quarter or none of my addons are working in-game. So, then I let it do its little song and dance of installing, then it crashes. So, I make sure all my addons are still subscribed, then I add a few more (I think it was the lightsabers, source zombies or whatever, and something else I can't recall), then I load up GMod. My laptop has been blowing up on itself lately, so I switched to my desktop (which I rarely use, my sisters use it mostly but I use it when my main is not working) and I hadn't used it since before the big 10/24 update. This can be useful if you are developing something with features that the current branch does not have, such as Chromium features in the x86-64 branch.SOLUTION: What fixed the problem I was having was not installing the larger addons from within Garry's Mod, and instead unsubscribing/resubscribing and letting it install from the Steam client. To check which branch the player is using, you can check the Global Variables BRANCH clientside. Go to Betas tab and select NONE - Opt out of all beta programs from the dropdown:

You can ignore the "Enter beta access code" field, it does nothing for Garry's Mod. Go to Betas tab and select dev - Development Branch from the dropdown: Right click on Garry's Mod in Steam and select Properties: It is invaluable for us to have people test the game before the next update is out to make sure nothing breaks, or at least not that much. This does not mean you shouldn't use the Dev branch. So you can test the changes and make sure next update will be less buggy by reporting bugsĬan I play on normal servers with this version of the game?.So that addon developers can adjust to upcoming changes. You can find a full list of changes between the Dev branch and normal version of the game here and a live change list here. It contains all the changes that will be included into the game in next update. Dev branch is the next version of Garry's Mod.
